He grew up in Portland, Texas. After seven years with the folk-pop group Pozo-Seco Singers, he began his solo career in 1971, singing popular ballads and amassing 17 No. 1 hits, including "Til the Rivers All Run Dry," "It Must Be Love," and "Some Broken Hearts Never Mend."The Outlaws are known for their own high-powered, guitar-driven country-rock, complete with exciting self-penned music and stellar three-part harmony.
