Fleeing vehicle reported stolen

A vehicle that fled police in Lehigh County was later found to be stolen and owned by a Schuylkill County resident. State police at Fogelsville said the incident began about 1:49 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, along Hamilton Blvd., at Lincoln Ave., in Lower Macungie Township.

Troopers attempted to stop a dark blue in color Jeep Grand Cherokee for an inoperable driver side taillight. Troopers activated emergency lights and siren but the driver of the Jeep refused to stop.A chase ensued that continued north of Hamilton into Allentown and continued onto North Madison Street where troopers broke off the chase due to the speeds and reckless manner of the fleeing vehicle. Troopers were able to observe a bumper sticker on the Jeep for the Gillingham Charter School and the registration plate of GYS2735.The Jeep is registered to Sara C. Smith, 43, of Orwigsburg. She was contacted and told troopers the vehicle had been parked at the Beiber Bus Terminal, at 440 Hamilton Blvd., Lower Macungie Township, and was stolen.The investigation into the incident is continuing, troopers added.
