Carbon center plans summer programs

The Carbon County Environmental Education Center is planning fun and exciting summer programs for children.

On July 7, starting at 5:30 p.m., the center will be hosting an Outdoor Field Day event for children ages five to 12. Guest naturalist Becky Cunfer will be leading special events including team relays, challenges and an obstacle course.

Other upcoming events include Outdoor Adventuring programs with Cunfer, for ages eight to12, on Saturday's, July 9 and 16, starting at 9:30 a.m. Pre-registration is a must. For more information or to register for the programs, call Cunfer at (484) 895-5189 or email at

The programs are free for center members, and a $5 donation per child is requested of non-members. The center is located at the west end of Mauch Chunk Lake Park, just outside Jim Thorpe, along the Lentz Trail.
