Smith leads No. Valley

A big day on the mound and at the plate by Sawyer Smith helped Northern Valley gain a win over North Parkland on Thursday.

Sawyer Smith almost had as many hits at the plate as he allowed from the mound in leading Northern Valley (11-1) to a 6-2 Norco Legion win over North Parkland.

Smith went 3-for-3 and knocked in three runs to lead his club offensively. The Northwestern product also pitched a complete game four-hitter, allowing just one earned run and two walks while striking out four.

Payton Bachman added a double, run scored and RBI, and Tyler Hill walked twice, scored a pair of runs and knocked in one.

The Panther Valley Black Diamonds raced to an early lead and cruised to a 15-3 victory over the Towamensing Yankees.

Zach Stanko, the game's winning pitcher, struck out five in 4 innings. At the plate Stanko had three hits, two of them doubles, and knocked in two runs.

The winners also received two hits and four RBIs from Greg Pecha.

For Towamensing, Nick Brogan and Mike Sander each had a hit and RBI.

FT Hurricanes-Forks

Derek Heffelfinger had two hits and knocked in two runs to help the Franklin Township Hurricanes gain a 9-1 victory over the Forks Township Falcons.

The Hurricanes' Heath Markley added a double and two RBI.

Dean DiBonifazio allowed one run in four innings to gain the pitching win while Dan Dailey tossed three innings of two-hit shutout ball for the save.

The Towamensing Yankees outhit Pocono Mountain, but it was the Outlaws that came away with a 6-2 victory.

Mike Sander had two hits, one a double, for the Yankees.

Pocono Mountain received a double and three RBI from Billy Durkin.
