Lansford Borough council on Wednesday hired Michael Greek as its new solicitor.

Greek also serves as solicitor for neighboring Coaldale, Tamaqua, Parryville and Weissport boroughs and Walker and Schuylkill townships, and serves as solicitor for Lansford and Nesquehoning's zoning hearing boards and for the Towamensing Township Planning Commission, so is up-to-date on issues facing municipalities. he is also an Assistant District Attorney in Carbon County and an associate attorney with William G. Schwab and Associates.Greek, who will be paid $80 an hour, replaces Robert T. Yurchak.Council at a special meeting held Dec. 30 to adopt the budget, voted to not renew Yurchak's contract.Council declined to say why they wanted Yurchak gone.
