Palmerton Area Library lists briefs

Parents are encouraged to check out the large selection of kids' books at the Palmerton Area Library. Since the Palmerton Area School District has set new requirements for student reading, the library has purchased new books to help the students complete their reading assignments. The library has a large selection of biographies suitable for children grades 1-6 as well as lots of other nonfiction books. The library has also started a selection of easy books that come with a CD and audio books for students in the upper elementary grades. The library staff can assist you in finding books suitable to read at each grade level.

Tax forms are now available at the Palmerton Area Library. All the forms and booklets that are displayed on the rack near the magazines are free to the public. The forms that are not on display can be requested at the desk and the staff will make copies. You may call ahead to see which forms and booklets are available. Please call 610-826-3424.

The Palmerton Area Library is still looking for volunteers. If you would like to help with Story Hour, shelve books, tutor students, decorate the windows, work in the book sale or help with special projects please call the library or stop in to pick up a volunteer packet. Ask for Mariann.

The Friends of the Library are sponsoring their Annual Photography Show on March 27. If you are interested in displaying your photos for the show please contact the library for more information.

The spring Computer Classes at the library will begin on Thursday March 17. The library will offer Beginner and Intermediate Classes as well as classes in Digital Camera. You can get more information by calling the library at 610-826-3424.

The library is open Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are six computers available for the public to use as well as a copier and fax machine. The library now has an outside drop box for the easy return of movies and books any time of the day or night.
