RON GOWER/TIMES NEWS Attorney Jason Rapa of Lehighton has been named a "Super Lawyer" by the Pennsylvania Super Lawyer magazine.
A Lehighton attorney has been named a "Super Lawyer."
Attorney Jason Rapa of Lehighton was named a "Super Lawyer" by the Pennsylvania Super Lawyers magazine.
"I was honored and surprised and very excited," Atty. Rapa said of the designation.
He attained the honor because of his consumer protection work and handling consumer bankruptcies.
The young attorney has an office at 141 S. First St., Lehighton. In November, he will have been at the Lehighton location for six years.
Since his admission to the practice of law in 2002, he has focused his practice on representing consumers.
The Pennsylvania Super Lawyers magazine says of Rapa, "He successfully represented more than a thousand consumers in state and federal court against unlawful debt collection tactics, recovering over a million dollars for consumers throughout Pennsylvania."
It adds, "In addition to his extensive consumer law practice, Jason has assisted hundreds of individuals in filing for protection under Chapters 7 and 13 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code in both the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania."
Atty. Rapa founded the Rapa Law Office in 2005 with offices in Lehighton and Allentown, where he is joined by his brother, Atty. Matthew J. Rapa.
The Super Lawyer attained the status through nomination by his peers. Lawyers are asked by Pennsylvania Super Lawyer to nominate the best attorneys who are 40 or under, or who have been practicing for 10 years or less. The magazine says, "They are instructed to nominate lawyers they have personally observed in action - whether as opposing counsel or co-counsel, or through other firsthand courtroom observation."
An attorney-led research team reviews the credential of the nominees and makes their selection on a point process.
The selection of Super Lawyers occurs once a year.
Attorney Rapa's wife, Jennifer, is also a lawyer. She works for the Monroe County Public Defenders Office.
The new Super Lawyer said that given the accreditation is "surprising."
"It's certainly an honor when your adversaries nominate you," he remarked.
