If so, then plan to participate in the 10th annual Blue Mountain Health System 5K Road Race-Walk, 1-Mile Walk & Kids Fun Run on Saturday, May 7.Presented by the Medical Staff of the Blue Mountain Health System, the event will consist of registration at 8 a.m., the run/walk at 9 a.m., and the Kids Fun Run at 10 a.m.The entry fee is $20 before April 15, $25 after April 15, and $5 for the Kids Fun Run. A technical shirts is guaranteed to the first 300 entrants. All proceeds benefit the Blue Mountain Health System.The course is a loop with the start/finish at the Palmerton Borough Park, located at Third and Franklin Avenue. The 5,000 meter course will officially be certified by the USA Track & Field Association this year.Awards will be given to the top overall male and female runner. Stethoscopes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers ages 12-and-under, 13-18; 19-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; and 60-and-up.Prizes will also be awarded to the top three sponsorship collectors: first place, two tickets to a Penn's Peak event; second and third place, a $50 gift certificate to Dick's Sporting Goods.There will also be a team competition, with awards given to the largest team, most money raised, and the fastest team. First prize in each category is a $100 check made out to a charity of the team's choosing. There must be a minimum of four members per team.The Kid's Fun Run will take place entirely inside the park for children: ages 4-and-under will run mile; ages 5-6 mile; ages 7-8, 1/2 mile; ages 9-10, one mile.
