Through the generosity of a Lehighton auto dealer and supermarket owner, 100 families will be enjoying a Christmas dinner.

Lehighton Ford donated 100 turkeys and 100 cans of vegetables, while Frank Kuhn, owner of Mallard Markets in Lehighton contributed 100 five pound bags of potatoes and 100 cans of cranberry sauce.The bounty was divided among 10 churches in the area. Church representatives gathered recently at Lehighton Ford to pick up the food items for distribution to 10 needy families in their congregations."We are here to pass our good fortune on to others who have a need. We have called all of you together to help us help others," said Kent Newhart of Lehighton Ford.Kuhn is thankful for a business partnership to help others."This warms my heart to partner with you. We're here in the community and we're here to help the community. It gives me a good feeling to come together for a common cause," Kuhn said.Churches distributing the food to members of their parish are: St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Towamensing; Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Trinity Lutheran Church, First Presbyterian Church, All Saint's Episcopal Church, Bethany Evangelical Church, Lehighton; People's Evangelical Congregational Church, Lighthouse Baptist Church, Franklin Township; Christ Evangelical Free Church, Mahoning Township; and St. Paul Lutheran Church, Weissport.The giving event was organized by John Krebs, service manager at Lehighton Ford.Employees at Lehighton Ford and the representatives of the 10 churches heard a prayer given by Newhart before the food items were distributed.A friendly camaraderie existed as church representatives helped each other load the vehicles.Kuhn is also a supporter of local food pantries.
