Students and faculty members at Marian Catholic High School, Hometown, took time from their academic schedules on Monday, Nov. 10, to pay tribute to America and its Armed Forces during a Veterans Day assembly held in the school gymnasium.

Thomas Dando, was the keynote speaker for an audience of over 300 persons. Dando is a Vietnam veteran and retired teacher and principal.Throughout the program, students of the diocesan high school offered several patriotic presentations, while remarks were offered by Sister Bernard Agnes, IHM school principal. Musical selections were offered by the Marian High School Band.Student Anthony Pilla was the master of ceremonies.The program began with Sister Bernard Agnes, IHM asking the invocation, followed by the national anthem led by the band. Student Tim Miller gave the "History of Veterans Day," while a classmate, Emily Burger presented a "Student's View of Veterans Day," after which time Dando addressed the assemblage.Emma Boyle explained the "History of the Flag," and Henry Piascik recited "In Flander's Field," respectively."Taps" was played by Christopher Postupack, followed by a moment of silence in memory of departed veterans.The session closed with Sister Bernard pronouncing the benediction and the playing of the Marian Alma Mater.
