The Marian community recently held a dress down day in an effort to help fight Alzheimer's disease through research and support programs and services and sold "a reason to hope" bracelets and "forget me not" flowers. A total of $550 was presented to the Alzheimer's Association. Carbon County raised over $19,000 toward this disease. Alzheimer's is the most common form of dementia, a general term for memory loss and other intellectual abilities serious enough to interfere with daily life. Alzheimer's disease accounts for 50-70 percent of dementia cases. The money raised will be used to support these programs and services as well as funding research aimed at finding treatments and a cure for this disease.
