Lehighton Girl Scouts Service Unit take part in Camperee

Lehighton Girl Scouts from Daisies to Ambassadors spent a weekend in October working on activities and building leadership skills during a Service Unit Camperee held at Camp Mosey Wood. The theme was "Dream Green," which was based on the Girl Scout's Leadership Journey: It's Your Planet - Love It!

Everyone received a patch and a T-shirt based on the top two winning designs chosen from the entries of the Patch Contest. Some girls slept in tents while others stayed in cabins. The experience was a changing one for some, while others got to know each other better. At mealtimes, "meals were great" and troops took turns setting the table and learning that cleaning up went with eating the meals. In doing this, the girls learned leadership and responsibility skills.Even through everyone got up early and went to bed late, the time was spent by doing activities such as rock climbing, hiking, archery, boating and making unique crafts made from recycled products. The older Girl Scouts were a role model for the younger girls and showed them how to be a sister to every Girl Scout. A great time was had by everyone and at the end of the weekend, prizes were handed out to every Girl Scout.
