A valuable amount of gold jewelry was reported stolen in a Monroe County burglary. The break-in was one of several incidents probed by state police at Lehighton.

The burglary occurred at the residence of Paul Allen Hartman, 58, of 1705 Mountain Rd., in Saylorsburg, Ross Township, Monroe County. Removed from the home were several pieces of gold jewelry with an estimated value of $50,000, troopers said. The entry occurred sometime between 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 25.Troopers also reported that the home of Dale Danner, Forest Rd., Lehighton, Towamensing Township, was entered by forcing open a window to a garage. The house was then entered and removed was a Colt .380 pistol; 50, $1 gold coins, $40 in loose change and a small NRA flashlight. The entry occurred sometime between Oct. 18 at 9 a.m. and Oct. 19 at 11 p.m.Several theft incidents were also probed.Troopers are investigating a theft at the Mrs. Bush Personal Care Home located along Kunkletown Road, in Eldred Township. Troopers said an unknown person removed cash from a safe in the home. Total amount taken was $1,036. The listed victims are Elizabeth Goplerud, 91, Bertha Jennings, 87, James Berger, 85, and Joanne Bush, 64.Paul Viani, 76, of Upper Smith Gap Rd., in Eldred Township, Monroe County, reported someone removed a cast iron cap from a well on his property. The criminals then attempted to remove a well pump but were unsuccessful. The incident occurred sometime between Oct. 9 and 19.Elizabeth Elen Whitmore, 40, of 565 Twin Flower Circle, Kunkletown, Towamensing Township, reported someone removed 80 vicodin tablets from a prescription bottle in her home. The incident occurred sometime between 2 and 6 p.m. on Oct. 22.Troopers are investigating an incident at Graver's Orchard, located along Owl Creek Road, in Towamensing Township, Carbon County. Troopers said unknown persons removed a cash register from the property. The theft occurred sometime between Oct. 20 at 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. on Oct. 21.
