Time to move exercise indoors

As temperatures continue to plummet, now is a good time to move exercise indoors.

For those who still crave a workout, the Palmerton Fitness Center can accomplish that goal and then some, according to manager/certified personal trainer Julie Reichl.Reichl said that because so many people experience shoulder, knee and back pain, it's important to be on a personalized exercise plan based on their needs and goals."Each plan should include flexibility, strength training, and cardiovascular training," Reichl said. "It's extremely important to keep all your muscles and joints moving."Reichl said the key to exercise is to stay consistent, and to allow time everyday to exercise for at least 30 minutes. Yoga classes are now available at 6:30 p.m. on Sundays. In order to get started on the right track, Reichl said anyone who signs up at the fitness center between now and December will receive three free personal training sessions.Complete with locker rooms with private showers, the fitness center features a multitude of equipment such as treadmills, bikes, rowers, dumbbells, ellipticals, StairMaster bikes, steppers, power rack, medicine balls, and strength training machines. The fitness center is open from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 5:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, and 7 a.m. to noon Sunday.
