It's 'murder' at The Studio

Murder? At The Studio? In Lansford?

Don't be alarmed; it's all in good fun. This weekend the Carbon/Schuylkill Community Theatre will present "Murder at The Studio," two performances of two murder mysteries at The Studio, 255-257 East Ridge St., Lansford. The first show is at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 22; and the second is a matinee on Sunday, Oct. 24 at 3 p.m."Not My Cup of Tea" by Albert Groff is directed by Janet Sager and features Molly Phillips, Barbara Maloney and Donna Tweed. Can murder be funny? Perhaps not, but the plotting just might be.A domineering old maid convinces her spinster sister to join her in cooking up a sinister plan, but dear old mother has plans of her own.Perhaps sitting down with a nice cup of tea is just what this southern family needs. But is it?In "Murder Next Door," a dark comedy by Whitney Ryan Garitty, Miranda Belgraves, played by Donna Tweed, has almost finished with her latest novel. With just a couple pages left to go, it appears Miranda will have to overcome interruptions from her neighbor, an aspiring writer, and her besotted son. After dispensing with them, she must now deal with her estranged husband. Will she survive long enough to finish her book, or does fate have other plans for Miranda? In addition to Tweed, cast members in "Murder Next Door" include Jonathan Rodgers, Janet Sager and Keith Shelly. Jack Phillips is the director.Sager, CSCT founder, says this production is a "frightfully funny mix of comedy, drama and murder, just in time for Halloween." She also cautions that the subject matter may not be suited for young children. For more information about the upcoming performances or CSCT, call (570) 325-2317.
