Andreas man waives charges of sexual assault of babysitter

An Andreas man has waived charges of sexual assault against a 14 year-old babysitter to Schuylkill County Court.

Christopher Lee Shiner, 27, of Ash Circle, waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Tuesday before Magisterial District Justice Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua.Shiner was arrested by State Trooper John Powis of the Frackville barracks on Aug. 17 and charged with statutory sexual assault and aggravated indecent assault, both felonies, and indecent assault of a person less thans 16 years of age and corruption of minors, which are misdemeanors.Shiner is incarcerated in Schuylkill County Prison, Pottsville, in lieu of $25,000 straight cash bail.The alleged victim told State Police she had been babysitting at Shiner's residence for his two daughters, ages 5 and 7. After the girls were put to bed, the victim fell asleep in the master bedroom and was later awakened by the suspect, who allegedly had sexual intercourse with the victim.Shiner later admitted to the sexual assaut when confronted by State troopers.In other hearings before Bayer:Kevin O. Leibensperger, 46, of Washington Street, Tamaqua, was held for Schuylkill Court on charges of misdemeanor stalking and harassment (two summary offenses and one misdemeanor) from an incident on Aug. 21.The charges were filed by Officer Karl Harig of Tamaqua Police. Bail was set at $25,000 unsecured, with the stipulation that Leibensperger have no contact with the victim or the victim's family.Leibensperger is also bound for court on DUI charges, as well as a summary traffic charge of driving over a divider, after being stopped by Rush Township Officer Corey Herring on Sept. 4.Gary M. Heller, 51, of W. Early Avenue, Coaldale, waived charges of burglary, criminal trespass, possessing instruments of a crime, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and criminal trespass to Schuylkill Court.Heller was charged by Coaldale Officer Scott Cramer on Aug. 22 and arraigned before Bayer. He is free after posting 10 percent of his $1,000 cash bail.Douglas K. Miller, 48, of Reynolds Road, Tamaqua, waived charges of DUI, as well as a summary traffic offense of driving with no rear lights. Miller was stopped by Officer Andrew Girard of the Coaldale Police on Aug. 11. Miller is free on his own recognizance.Michael R. Searfoss, 23, of Pocono Road, Albrightsville, waived DUI charges. Searfoss was stopped by Coaldale Officer Charles Blesse on Aug. 28. Searfoss is free on his own recognizance.Earl Hartranft, 32, of Coal Street, Tamaqua, waived charges of theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and disorderly conduct.Hartranft was arrested on Aug. 20 by Tamaqua Officer Dale Osenbach. He is free after posting 10 percent of his $5,000 bail.Keith A. Washeim, 39, of S. Center Street, Tamaqua, waived DUI charges, as well as summary offenses of driving with a suspended license and exceeding the maximum speed limit.Washeim was stopped by Tamaqua Patrolman Richard Bekesy on July 31. He is free on his own recognizance.Betty J. Ryder, 28, of Valley Street, Brockton, waived DUI charges, as well as summary traffic offenses, including disregarding the traffic lane, failure to use seat belts and failure to notify of a change of address. Ryder was stopped by Coaldale Officer Charles Blesse on Aug. 12.She is free on her own recognizance.Brian Ingold, 46, of First Street, Coaldale, waived charges of indecent assault and corruption of minors, the former charge stemming from Dec. 21, 2009 and the latter from May 6 of this year. Ingold was arrested on July 1 by West Penn Township Police Officer Dale Osenbach.Bail was set at $25,000 unsecured.Micah Mobus Porter, 18, of S. Osmound Street, State College, was held for court on charges of DUI of a controlled substance (metabolite), possession of marijuana, corruption of minors, possessing a controlled substance, use of drug paraphernalia and a summary offense of disregarding a traffic lane.A charge of endangering the welfare of children was dismissed. Porter was stopped by Coaldale Officer Charles Blesse on June 17.Lisa M. Payne, 43, of Jason Road, Hazleton, is bound for court after being held on charges of simple assault and harrassment by Bayer. Payne was arrested by Officer Joseph David of McAdoo Police on Aug. 23.She is free after posting 10 percent of her $25,000 cash bail, with the stipulation she have no contact with the victim and refrain from entering the victim's residence or place or employment.Jeffrey M. Bersavage, 24, of N. Putnam Street, McAdoo, waived charges of open lewdness and disorderly conduct before Bayer. Bersavage was charged by McAdoo Officer David for an incident on July 9.Bail was set at $10,000 unsecured.
