At the Rush Township board meeting on Tuesday, acknowledged the efforts of individuals who help to improve the township and make it a better place for its residents.

Drawing special praise were those workers who helped in the cleanup of the John M. Ryan Memorial Park earlier this month. They included Raymond Boulanger, Harry Eisley, Carmen Forke, Walter Taylor, Robert Leibensperger, and Matt Hope of Hope's Towing who donated the use of equipment to assist with the project.A number of important upcoming dates were noted at the meeting.To commemorate National Fire Prevention week (Oct. 3-9), the public is invited to attend open house at the Hometown Fire Company on Tuesday evening October 5th. The next breakfast will be Sunday, Sept. 26.Rush Township Trick or Treat night will be Sunday, Oct. 31, from 6-9 p.m. There will be extra police coverage that night to help make Halloween night a safe one.A meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 4 p.m. at the township building to update residents on the Meadow Avenue Project. A representative from Alfred Benesch and Company will be on hand to answer questions.Under new business, all supervisors agreed to:• Hire Adam Sinton as a part time police officer at $12 an hour;• Adopt Resolution 2010-15 authorizing the filing of an application for funds with the Department of Community and Economic Development, Commonwealth of Pa.• Adopt Resolution 2010-16, noting an account number change for the Hometown Sewer Operating Fund as advised by the insurance company because of the visibility of some numbers during a broadcast on a local news station.• Ratify the Rush Township Fire Police to aide in directing the traffic after the home football games at Marian Catholic High School.• Ratify the Rush Township Fire Police to aide in directing traffic for the "Bike Ride for Bynon" to be held on Sept. 26, 2010.• Advertise the garbage contract for bid• The approval of Plan #235A-Herring Subdivision Lot AnnexationThe supervisors also informed residents that the road crew will be trimming area trees and brush that over hang right of way and berm sections of the township sometime during the late fall. Residents are welcome to trim their own trees and brush before hand if they wish.
