A Luzerne County man was sentenced to a Carbon County prison term on Tuesday after pleading guilty to a count of corruption of a minor. He was one of several defendants in pending criminal cases to enter a guilty plea before Judge Steven R. Serfass.

Banks Twp. incidentAdam Nicholas Kotsko, 27, of Hazleton, was arrested by state police at Hazleton for an incident that occurred in Banks Township on June 26.According to troopers Kotsko called a then 15-year-old girl to come to his home to babysit his young child because he wanted to go out. However, after the girl arrived at the home Kotsko did not leave. He asked the girl if she would massage him. During the course of the time the girl was at the home troopers said Kotsko touched the girl inappropriately on several occasions.The girl told troopers she was scared and did what Kotsko said. After returning home the girl told her father. The father, according to reports, exacted his own justice from Kotsko.Kotsko claimed he had taken excessive amounts of drugs and was drinking alcohol at the time of the incident.Concerning the confrontation with the victim's father, Kotsko said he suffered a broken nose and jaw.Serfass told Kotsko, "There is no excuse for what you did."Serfass sentenced him to serve three to one day less 24 months in prison, and ordered him to submit to a sexual offenders evaluation and follow any recommendations, get a drug and alcohol (D&A) evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, and render three hours of community service per month when released from jail and while on parole.He will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. on Sept. 10 and was granted work release privileges.Other pleasOther defendants who entered guilty pleas before Serfass included:Brett Keyes Sr., of Lansford, pleaded guilty to one count of harassment, as a summary offense. He was arrested by Nesquehoning police for an incident that occurred on April 28 with his son, Brett Jr., the listed victim. A charge of simple assault was dropped a plea bargain.Serfass imposed a fine of $100 and costs.Peter Jay Connor, 42, of West Chester, pleaded to one count of persistent disorderly conduct. He was arrested on April 6 in Nesquehoning following a domestic incident with his wife, Rachael Connor, the listed victim. A charge of simple assault was dropped in a plea bargain. The two are currently separated with a divorce action is pending.Serfass placed him on probation for a year and ordered he make restitution of $630.08 to the victim.Melissa Oriel, 37, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of driving under the influence (DUI). She was arrested on Dec. 19, 2009, along SR902 in Summit Hill after being involved in an accident. Given a test, the result showed the presence of cocaine in her system.Serfass sentenced her to serve 48 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $500, ordered she get a D&A evaluation, and license suspended for a year.She begins the jail term at 9 a.m. on Sept. 17.Ajanee Nichole Wright, 20, of Kingston, Luzerne County, pleaded to one count of DUI. She was arrested on July 8, 2009, along SR903 in Penn Forest Township after being involved in an accident. He car rammed a building causing extensive damages. Given a test, the result showed the presence of various illegal drugs.Serfass sentenced her to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, ordered to get a D&A evaluation, license suspended for a year and make total restitution of $8,988.13.She begins the jail term at 9 a.m. on Sept. 10.Each defendant must also pay court costs and a $50 per month supervison fee while on probation or parole.
