Sunday morning, three trees located only a 100-feet of each other, were toppled on Schuylkill Road in the village of Hecla in New Ringgold. A 100 foot pine tree, which was the largest to fall, was split down the middle and then toppled. Another large tree adjacent to the pine was also toppled. The large two 60-foot sections of the pine tree were located on the property of the Saint Mary's Monastery owned by the Cistercian monks. The large pine tree also fell on a sign and decorative entry bricks belonging to the Cistercians. Another large tree to fall in the area was a large tulip poplar tree located about 90 feet south east of the fallen pine tree. Other large fallen branches and debris were also noticed in the surrounding areas. Nearby resident Colin Houser said he lost power earlier Sunday morning. Houser stated, "This damage is similar to a small tornado that came through this area (Hecla) and continued through the Lewistown Valley(Tamaqua) about 30 years ago"
