A Tamaqua woman spent time in two different county prisons on Monday, with the prospect of a jail stay in a third county looming ahead.

Jessica Ann Rudy, 23, of 10 S. Greenwood St., Tamaqua, was picked up at the Carbon County jail Monday morning by Schuylkill County detectives, who were serving her with warrants issued on charges filed by Tamaqua and Rush Township police.The Tamaqua warrants were the result of an April 1 incident at the We R Cigarettes store on Mauch Chunk Street. Rudy apparently vouched for a male patron who presented a Social Security check, in the name of George D. Anthony, to be cashed. Store owner Edward Paperman hesitated about cashing the check when the male failed to provide any identification, but instead relied on Rudy, who vouched for the man. The real Anthony is a 69 year old white male, while Rudy's friend is a black male.Rudy later told police she only knew the man as "G." She was charged with two felony counts of forgery and a misdemeanor count of theft by deception by Cpl. Henry Woods.The Rush Township charge stems from an alleged retail theft, committed at the Hometown Walmart on April 9. In that case she was charged with conspiracy to commit theft by unlawful taking and theft by unlawful taking by Patrolman Brian Thompson.District Judge Stephen Bayer, of Tamaqua, set bail at $10,000 straight cash and the detectives transported Rudy to the county jail in Pottsville.Rudy is also wanted on an outstanding warrant issued by Lehigh County police and was in the Carbon County jail on charges filed by Lansford police.
