Fran Craigie, director of the Panther Valley Senior Center in Nesquehoning has announced July's activities.Starting on July 1 there will be Pictionary at 11 a.m. July 2 is Penny Game at 11 a.m.July 5 the center is closed; July 6 is line dancing before lunch and the Sunshine Meeting after lunch; July 7 is pay bingo at 11 a.m.; July 8 are blood pressures and going to Heisler's after lunch; July 9 ceramics.July 12 birthday and bingo at 11 a.m.; July 13 line dancing; July 14 horse racing at 11 a.m.; July 15 cards and checkers; July 16 shopping on CCCT starting at 9:30 a.m.July 19 dice; July 20 picnic at the Nesquehoning Fire Company at 10 a.m.; July 21 center closed for bus trip to Mount Airy leaving CVS at 10 a.m.; July 22 lottery bingo; July 23 Wii dance.July 26 Black Jack at 11 a.m. and ice cream after lunch; July 27 line dancing; July 28 pay bingo at 11 a.m.; July 29 Deal or No Deal at 11 a.m.; July 30 darts and bean bags.Sign in by 10 a.m. for the next day's lunch.Tax officeThe tax office of Patricia Vito will be closed Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 8, 9, and 13.Summit HillBorough councilThe Summit Hill Borough Council will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, July 12, at 7 p.m. in the borough hall. Joseph Weber, president, will be in charge of the session.Scripture sharingThe weekly scripture sharing sessions at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, will be held on Thursday, July 8, at 7 p.m. The sessions are held in the parish rectory.Legion to meetThe monthly meeting of American Legion Post 316, Summit Hill, will be held on Monday, July 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the post home. Commander W. Kevin O'Donnell will be in charge of the session.A meeting of the Home Association will immediately follow the post's meeting.St. Gabe's processionMembers of the St. Gabriel's Club, Summit Hill, will revive an old tradition in Summit Hill in conjunction with the St. Joseph Parish Festival that is scheduled for the weekend of July 16-18.Members will hold a procession in honor of St. Gabriel, for whom the Italian-American Society is named.The procession will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 18. Members will process with the statue of St. Gabriel through the west end of town, along with the children from the parish's First Communion class.Parishioners and friends are invited to join in the procession, followed with the placement of the statue and benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament. This time-honored tradition is aimed at reminding participants and viewers of the Italian heritage.Summer hoursParishioners of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, are reminded the parish office is operating on a summer schedule. The office will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.LansfordCouncil/committeeThe Facility Planning Committee of the Lansford Borough Council will meet on Monday, July 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the borough office.The monthly borough council meeting will take place on Wednesday, July 14, at 6:30 p.m. in the community center. Bob Gaughan, president, will be in charge of the session.
