Two injured in Franklin crash

Two elderly Bethlehem residents were injured Thursday evening when involved in a crash along Indian Hill Road in Franklin Township. The crash occurred about 7:30 p.m. as the couple was driving west and failed to negotiate a slight left curve in the roadway. The driver apparently over compensated swerving to the left, crossing the roadway and entering a lawn. The vehicle traveled for a considerable distance before striking several trees. It was unknown if the car rolled during the event. The car came to rest on its wheels. A woman passenger had to be extricated from the wreckage by members of the Franklin Township Fire Company which took a considerable amount of time due to the woman's pre-existing medical condition. The two victims were treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics and transported to an area hospital. Township fire police maintained traffic control at the scene. Township police are investigating the incident.
