Seven first time offenders in the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition (ARD) probation program on Tuesday by Senior Judge Richard W. Webb.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program their record his wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete the program or are revoked from it the Commonwealth reserves the right to prosecute them on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.All were placed for a year.Wayne Alfred Gutwein, 46, of Albrightsville, was placed on a charge of simple assault. He was arrested on Oct. 20, 2009, by state police at Fern Ridge for an incident at 69 Nathan Way, in the Towamensing Trails development in Penn Forest Township with William J. Tappan the listed victim.He was ordered to pay $350 for the program and render 15 hours of community service.Sara M. McTague, 21, of Plymouth, Luzerne County, was placed on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arrested on Nov. 26, 2009, in the 500 block of North St., Jim Thorpe.She was ordered to pay $350 for the program and render 15 hours of community service.Bruce Michael Meixsell, 19, of Lehighton, was placed on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was arrested on July 13, 2009, at his residence by state police at Lehighton.He was ordered to pay $500 for the program, get a drug and alcohol (D&A) evaluation and follow all recommendations for treatment, and render three hours of community service per month while in the program.Michael J. Pavuk Jr., 24, of Freeland, was placed on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on Nov. 26, 2009, in the 500 block of North St., Jim Thorpe.He was ordered to pay $350 for the program and render 15 hours of community service.James D. Redline Jr., 28, of Jim Thorpe, was placed on a charge of driving under the influence (DUI). He was arrested on Nov. 13, 2008, along Canal St., in Franklin Township. Given a test, the result was .17BAC.He was ordered to pay $450 for the program, get a D&A evaluation, render 18 hours of community service and license suspended for 60 days.Anthony Thorpe, 22, of Nesquehoning, was placed on a charge of retail theft. He was arrested on Nov. 16, 2009, at the Walmart store in Mahoning Township. He allegedly took $399 worth of merchandise without paying for it.He was ordered to pay $350 for the program and render 15 hours of community service.Joel Villeda-Orellana, 18, of Jim Thorpe, was placed on a charge of DUI. He was arrested on Oct. 11, 2009, along Church St., in Penn Forest Township, by state police. Given a test, the result was .15BAC.He was ordered to pay $400, get a D&A evaluation and license suspended for 60 days.All defendants must also pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
