Melvin Seals and the JGB Band, The Machine are performing at Penn's Peak this weekend

Two concerts are scheduled this weekend at Penn's Peak in Jim Thorpe.

On Friday night, Melvin Seals and the JGB Band will be in concert at 8 p.m. As most Grateful Dead fans know, the JGB stands for the Jerry Garcia Band.On Saturday night, The Machine, which is the ultimate Pink Floyd tribute band, will take the stage at 8 p.m.Melvin Seals is best known for his friendship and musical partnership with cultural icon Jerry Garcia. He has spun his B-3 magic with the Jerry Garcia Band and in doing so helped pioneer what has now become "Jam Band Music." Melvin continues to bring his unique brand of melodic flavor to the stage with his latest projects, Vitamin B-3 and The Mix, Melvin Seals JGB Band and Melvin Seal Rhythm Factory. The JGB consists of Pete Lavezzoli on drums, Stu Allen on guitar, Jimmy Tebeau on bass and Shirley Starks and Cheryl Rucker on back up vocals.Stu has a great eagerness to improvise which helps in making every performance unique. He has made extensive contributions to the jam band music scene and is a founding member of The Jones Gang, Minneapolis' premier Grateful Dead tribute bandJimmy has, amazingly enough, played over 2500 shows since 1990 featuring the music of Jerry Garcia, and he still continues today with the JGB.The Machine, America's top Pink Floyd show, has forged a 20 year reputation of excellence, extending the legacy of Pink Floyd, while creating another legacy all their own. Over the years, The Machine has touched the hearts and souls of many, selling out large clubs and theatres across North and Central America, Europe and Asia. They have also appeared at renowned music festivals such as Bonnaroo, Riverbend, and Germany's Rock of Ages. The New York based band focuses on making every show an authentic Floydian experience for their fans. Known for performing a diverse mix of The Floyd's extensive 16-album repertoire (complete with faithful renditions of well known hits as well as obscure gems), The Machine's stellar musicianship, dramatic lighting and video, and their passionate delivery sets them above and beyond the rest.In the classic tradition, The Machine explores collective improvisation paralleling and even rivaling that of an early 1970's Pink Floyd mentality. Their use of expanded theatrical elements and elaborate stage displays continues in the spirit of the later Floyd lineups of the1980's.The band is also known for recreating entire albums as a part of their show, accepting requests from fans, and for taking an A to Z approach in which one song is played for every letter of the alphabet. Additionally, the quartet has been sharing the stage with full symphony orchestras, enhancing and expanding the sonic depth of Pink Floyd. The members of The Machine include founding members Todd Cohen (drums) and Joe Pascarell (guitar, vocals), with long time stagemate Ryan Ball (bass, vocals) and newcomer Scott Chasolen (keys, vocals).
