Washington Township grant official George Beam applied for and received a $5,000 grant from PPL to continue the partnership between the township and Northern Lehigh Historical Society. The check was presented to the historical society at the Tuesday meeting of the supervisors.

Slatedale Athletic Association was given a $500 donation for last year. Secretary JoAnn Ahner said financial records from 2009 have been received, a requirement for receipt of the budgeted donation.Jim White, previously a supervisor at Upper Saucon Township, sent a thank you letter for a 1986 Ford fire truck that was given to a fire company in Sullivan County. Emerald Fire Company was unable to sell it. The company came down and picked up the truck on Jan. 9.Junkyard applications were approved for Craig Yeanish, Jack Follweiler, Clay Sauerwine, Kathy Sue Jones and two for Alfred Hanna. Each application requires payment of $50.Solicitor John Ashley said the fire hydrant tax ordinance is for a set amount for all properties within 780 feet of a hydrant. The cost for 2010 is $31.22, but must be reset at each year's reorganization meeting.The second ordinance passed was for the street lighting assessment. All properties that benefit from a street light are taxed $40.80. It is also to be reset annually.Delinquent real estate taxes are being turned over to the county for collection.Tax collector Sally Mantz presented a list for tax exonerations, all of which were approved.The Boy Scouts of America are celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2010 and requested a donation in the form of a sponsorship of an exhibit. The request came from Joe Zeller. Supervisor Gerald Phillips made a motion to deny the request. On a 3-0 vote it was denied.John Kisthardt was appointed as an alternate on the zoning hearing board.In public comment Mildred Kistler asked why the zoning hearing board reorganization meeting was started early.Zoning officer Justin Yaich said everyone on the board was present and it was decided to begin it "a few minutes early." He said it was only a five-minute meeting.Kistler said she was also early and the meeting was over. It was advertised for 7:30 p.m.Following the meeting Yaich said he would hold another reorganization meeting.
