Sixty-two criminal offenses probed

Lehighton borough police investigated 62 criminal offenses during July, including an armed robbery at Dunkin' Donuts along Bridge Street.

The monthly report was presented to the borough council by Sgt. Joseph Lawrence.Of the 62 offenses, 17 were criminal mischief complaints, nine were theft by unlawful taking, eight were burglaries, and five were disorderly conduct reports. There were two robberies reported, two theft of services, one identity theft, one credit card fraud, one counterfeiting report, and one indecent assault.A total of 19 criminal arrests occurred during the month.Police in Lehighton responded to 626 calls during the month. They also conducted 39 property checks and 13 business checks.There were 18 traffic citations issued in the month. Fifteen traffic accidents were investigated including two which resulted in injury.Police handled nine borough code violation complaints. They issued five warnings and made one arrest for a violation of the dog ordinance.
