The Panther Valley Knee-Hi Association will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 6:30 p.m. at The Sports Zoo in Lansford.This will be the final meeting to nominate officers. Election for officers will be held in January.Summit HillBloodmobile plannedA bloodmobile sponsored by St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, will be located in the church hall on Wednesday, Dec. 16, from 2-7 p.m. A goal of 35 pints has been set.The event is being held for the benefit of the Miller-Keystone Blood Center, which is the only blood supplier to our local hospitals (Blue Mountain Health System, Lehighton and Palmerton, and the St. Luke's Hospital and Health Network (Miner's Memorial, Coaldale).Advent Giving TreeThe annual Advent Giving Tree program is currently under way in the area Catholic churches, to benefit the Catholic Social Agency of the Allentown Diocese, which is now based in the rectory of St. Katharine Drexel, Lansford. The agency provides pregnancy care and services for the Carbon and Schuylkill counties.In the giving tree program, participants are asked to donate diapers and baby items. Other donation options are gifts for Weatherwood, the county's nursing home in Weatherly.Persons are invited to take an ornament from the tree in the church and purchase the suggested item. All items should be brought to church by the weekend of Dec. 12-13 and should be unwrapped.Borough councilThe monthly meeting of the Summit Hill Borough Council will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m. in the borough hall. Joseph Weber, president, will be in charge of the session.Methodist ChargeThe weekly worship service in the Summit Hill United Methodist Church will be held on Sunday, Dec. 13, at 9 a.m. Members are reminded to bring their gifts for the Carbon County Head Start Program before Dec. 15.The worship service in the Coaldale United Methodist Church will be held the same day at 11 a.m.The Rev. Burgess Gordon, pastor, will officiate at both services.The adult Sunday school will meet at 9:45 a.m. Sunday in the Coaldale church.LansfordBorough councilThe Lansford Borough Council holds regular monthly meetings on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Lansford Community Center, 1 W. Ridge St. The next meeting is scheduled for Dec. 9.
