Chamber offers members program to control electric rate increase

Carbon County Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce in selecting Constellation NewEnergy as the service provider for our member-exclusive Electricity Procurement Program. The program gives Chamber members access to more competitive pricing for their electricity as the Central Pennsylvania region prepares for the lifting of rate caps in the PPL territory at year end.

"Our joint program with Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce in the selection of Constellation NewEnergy reflects the Chamber's commitment to providing member businesses with access to the best services and expert consultants that we can in order to give them every advantage possible in the marketplace," said Michael Heery, President of the 500+-member Chamber in Carbon County. "We know that our members are evaluating how the lifting of rate caps will affect their operations and this relationship with Constellation NewEnergy will give members access to critical energy market information and a range of options to control operating costs."Constellation NewEnergy has an expertise in developing successful electricity procurement programs for business organizations and has established similar programs with a number of trade associations and chambers in Central Pennsylvania and nationwide. The Chamber's program helps members implement energy-management strategies and smart purchasing decisions."Constellation NewEnergy is proud to have been selected by Carbon County Chamber of Commerce to provide member businesses with exceptional pricing, value and one-of-a kind service in competitive energy markets," said Brian Weatherford, Vice President of Sales for Constellation NewEnergy. "The combination of energy commodity prices at several year lows and PPL rate caps set for expiration soon makes today an excellent time for businesses in the Carbon County to decide on their energy strategy for 2010."Businesses participating in this program will also have access to more electrical service options, such as participating in demand response programs that compensate businesses for reducing electricity usage during periods of peak demand on the grid. In addition, the renewable energy products offered through the program provide businesses with simple, low cost ways of meeting their sustainability objectives. Participants can also utilize NewEnergy Online, Constellation NewEnergy's comprehensive suite of tools to help businesses lower costs, reduce overall usage and access energy market updates. For more information about Carbon County Chamber of Commerce's Electricity Procurement Program, visit
