The Tamaqua Area Adult Day Care Center has a variety of activities planned for October, including a Halloween dress up party and visit from St. Jerome's kindergarten class on Oct. 30.Other activities planned for the month include: Oct. 7, bingo; Oct. 12, craft day; Oct. 14, bring your teddy bear to work day; Oct. 19, cooking class; Oct. 20, sing a long with Audrey Christ; Oct. 28, show and tell.The monthly birthday celebration will be held on Oct. 21.In addition to weekly sing-a-longs and social games, hairstyling and manicure services are available. Both require advance notice.Daily activities include exercise, reality orientation, remotivational and reminiscent therapy, as well as breakfast, lunch and a snack.Anyone interested in obtaining more information about the center and its services may call (570) 668-6577.St. Peter'sThe Rev. Rodney Wells will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. The service will include the dedication of the Confirmation Class. Sunday school classes will meet at 10:15 a.m.Also on Sunday, there will be an appreciation dinner for Sunday school teachers and officers, at 1 p.m., at Knepper's Inn.Activities for next week will include: Monday, Women's Bible study at 6 p.m.; Thursday, Prayer group meets at 5 p.m., dinner theater rehearsal at 6:30 p.m., Brownies meet at 6:30 p.m.The choirs rehearse on Thursdays. Next week's schedule will include: Cherubs at 6:30 p.m., Junior Choir at 7 p.m. and Senior Choir at 7:45 p.m.GriefshareA new Griefshare group will be forming at Bethany EC Church, 223 E. Broad Street, as of Oct. 6. Meetings will be held on Tuesdays, at 1:30 p.m. The 13-week sessions, Biblically based and non-denominational, are designed to help those hurting from the loss of a loved one.Call (570) 668-2520 for more information or to enroll.Senior CitizensThe Tamaqua Senior Citizens group meets every Thursday, at 1 p.m., in the Tamaqua Community Center, located to the rear of Boyer's Food Mart. Last week's meeting was attended by 86 members. One new member, Rick Valenti, was welcomed to the group. President Jean Yanik conducted the business session.Eleanor Roberts offered an invocation, entitled "A Friend."Secretary Eleanor Schmerfeld offered her weekly report. Jean Machamer offered inspirational readingsSeptember and October birthdays will be celebrated at the Sept. 24 meeting.Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.
