Panther Valley Elementary substitute Principal Mary Dugan Figura was made Interim Elementary Principal by the school board at a public meeting Thursday.

The change is retroactive to March 25, and continues to August, at a rate of $260.23 per day, with benefits.Figura, who was initially hired Oct. 25, 2012, is serving in that capacity as Principal William Lombardo, who is on sick leave.In other matters, the board:*Rejected Panther Valley Education Association grievances #2012-2013 WS, and #2012-2013 FD;*Approved the job description for middle and elementary school data coordinator;*Approved a new contract for custodians and secretaries, retroactive to July 1, 2012 and extending to June 30, 2014;*Set the substitute professional teacher daily rate at $90 per day for 2013-2014;*Eliminated the position of 75-day on-call professional teacher substitute for the 2013-2014 school year.*Approve a contract with the Nutrition Group to continue to manage its cafeteria. The district will choose a contract option at a later date;*Accepted the resignations for retirement of high school teachers Ted Collins and Michael Zulic as of the end of the 2012-2013 school year;*Approved Justin Christman and Melissa Gilbert as spring sports workers at a cost of $25 each per event;*Approved the following fall sports coaches, without salaries: Football: Lonnie Hazlet, Broc Hazlet, John Williams, John Ruzicka, Ryan Fritzinger, Richard Zabroski, and Ed Kennedy. Volleyball: Nancy Filer, LouAnn Brida, Amy Yusella, Debbie Yusella, Christa Mantz (pending). Cheerleading: Hallie Seiwell, Heidi Seiwell, and Amber Vachon;*Approved Francine Collevechio and Keith Gogal as weight room monitors;*Agreed that the baseball and softball fields may be used for playoff games at $75;*Approved Lehigh Carbon Community College's 2013-2014 budget;
