BOYS BASKETBALL

Moravian defeated Northwestern 46-40 in the opening round of the Wilson Tip-Off Tournament.

David Wagner led Northwestern with 14 points, hitting eight of 12 free throws in the game.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Marian-Shamokin

Marian used a strong second half to knock off Shamokin in the opening round of the Lourdes Tipoff Tournament, 43-37.

Marian and Shamokin were tied at 21 entering halftime, but the Fillies pulled away in the second half.

Gabby Green led Marian with 14 points, while Lindsay Nemeth and Savanna Krusinsky chipped in seven points apiece for the Fillies.

The Lady Tigers easily defeated Stroudsburg 66-21 in non-league contest.

Sara Jones led Northwestern with 15 points. Kaleen Suter added 13 for the Lady Tigers while Sabrina Mertz and Trista Cunningham each chipped in 11 points.

Bloomsburg Tourney

Tamaqua has two wrestlers in the in semifinals and two in consolation quarters at the Bloomsburg Wrestling Tournament.

Colin Mashack (120) had a first period fall and Luke Matsago (hwt.) picked up a pair of falls as they both advanced into the semis.

Dylan Rynkiewicz (138) and Nolan Zeigler (182) are sill alive in consolations.
