A Walker Township man is being cited by Tamaqua police following an incident that took place at 2 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25.

Officer Thomas Rodgers was on patrol when he observed a black Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling on Mauch Chunk Street. The operator attempted to do a burn out and almost lost control. Tamaqua Sgt. Rick Weaver identified the motorcyclist as Nicholas Demyanovich, 38, of 1481 Valley Rd.Officer Rodgers activated the lights on the police cruiser and the motorcycle sped away. Rodgers pursued the motorcycle for a short period of time but disengaged when the operator began traveling at a high rate of speed on Schuylkill Avenue.Demyanovich will be cited for fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement, reckless driving, driving the wrong way on a one-way street, failure to stop/yield at traffic control devices, driving at an unsafe speed and failure to wear required protective equipment (eye protection).
