Municipal road in West Penn Township was closed Thursday evening when a tree fell across the roadway during heavy rains. Members of the West Penn Fire Company No. 1 responded to the scene just north of School Road at 5:30 p.m. Firefighters utilized chain saws to cut up and remove the tree. Similar incidents took place throughout the area as the area was deluged with heavy rains and high winds all Thursday and this morning. Some areas of Pennsylvania experienced up to 10 inches of rain in a 24-hour period.
