Wind-swept fire destroys Gilbert home

A Monroe county home was destroyed by fire Friday afternoon in Polk Township.

The home, located along Pleasant View Drive in Gilbert, is owned by Terry and Mae Kline. The fire was first reported at 12:30 p.m. in a structure to the rear of the dwelling.When fire fighters arrived on scene they found the flames had jumped from the out building to the two story wood frame dwelling.In minutes, the home was fully involved in flames. Fire companies from throughout Monroe and Carbon counties battled the stubborn flames which were swept by high winds.At least one fire fighter was receiving oxygen at the scene.
