Tamaqua fifth grade plans fun activities during Dare Challenge

Tamaqua Area fifth grade will host the Dare Challenge from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 6 at the Tamaqua Elementary School gymnasium.

The fifth grade Dare Challenge is an exciting day of activities geared at making students realize they do not need drugs to have fun. Sponsored by the Tamaqua, Rush Township and West Penn townships area police departments, Tamaqua Area School District and numerous caring volunteers. This event is a positive interaction of professionals, community, parents and students.Students are grouped according to classroom teacher and compete against each other - similar to Nickelodeon Double Dare.Activities include: Feeding Time, a challenge of using your mouth only to dire into vanilla pudding to find the hidden gummy words.Egg toss: 10 dozen eggs will be tossed back and forth hoping to survive the trip.Pig snout painting: students will have to wear a pig snout dipped in paint and asked to color the Dare sign.Wild, Wet and Wacky: The team that catches the most wet sponges in the bucket wins.Obstacle course: Walking with shoe boxes on your feet, climbing through boxes, spirit zing water, carpet sliding, hula hoping, finding pennies in slime, etc. All timed to be the fastest.In addition, there will be music, food and a live audience.
