Tamaqua police are investigating a robbery at Shafer's Pharmacy, 11 Center St.

A lone suspect, dressed in dark clothing and wearing a mask, entered the store at 2:58 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11.

Once inside the burglar removed several types of medication.

Anyone with information, or who may have witnessed suspicious activity at that time, is asked to call police at (570) 668-6100.

Disorderly conduct

Adam Ceykovsky, 24, of 1229 Olive Road, Danielsville, and Samantha Rex, 24, of 140 Delaware Avenue, Apt. 101, Palmerton, were cited for disorderly conduct. The violations occurred on Aug. 5 at 2:21 a.m. in the 100 block of Delaware Avenue.


A citation was filed against Michael McLeod, 22, of 260 Main Street, Parryville, for harassment. The violation occurred on August 2 at 10:10 p.m. in the 700 block of Princeton Avenue.

State police at Lehighton reported on two driving under the influence (DUI) arrests.

Troopers said about 9:45 p.m. on Aug. 11 Zbigniew Gorski, 42, of Emmaus, was stopped along Canal Street, at Bridge Street, in Franklin Township, Carbon County. Troopers said it was determined he was driving while impaired. The DUI charge is pending blood test results, troopers added.

A truck driver escaped injury in a crash that occurred about 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14, along SR61 in New Castle Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said Timothy J. Lynd, 41, of Fairport, N.Y., was operating a 2011 Kenworth truck northbound and attempting to negotiate a left-hand curve in the road.

Lynd failed to slow enough to negotiate the curve with the truck striking the guide rail on the east side.

A New York state man is facing several charges, including violating a protection from abuse (PFA) order, and fleeing and attempting to elude police.

Pocono Mountain Regional police identified the man as Jean M. Philogene, 37, of New York City.

According to police the incident occurred on Aug. 13. Earlier in the day a female who resides along Devon Road, in Pocono Farms East, in Coolbaugh Township, reported a male was driving by her home, who was later identified as Philogene, in violation to a PFA order the woman had obtained that day.

State police at Lehighton reported on the following arrests made by troopers.

Troopers said charges of simple assault and harassment have been filed against Mark Joseph Pavlosky, 33, of Jim Thorpe, following an incident that occurred about 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 12, at the intersection of Behrens Road and SR903, in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. Troopers allege that Pavlosky struck a 36-year-old male from Jim Thorpe in the face causing an injury.

State police at Frackville have corrected the spelling of the last name of a motorist who assisted in helping two drivers injured in a crash in Schuylkill County, out of their vehicles as one of the vehicles burned.

Troopers said John Yakubik assisted off-duty Shenandoah Police Officer Robert Senape in pulling the driver of a pickup truck and a county transportation bus from their respective vehicles. Details of the crash appeared on page five of Tuesday's TIMES NEWS.

A crash in Monroe County has resulted in the driver facing a driving under the influence (DUI) charge.

State police at Lehighton said Devon Rine, 26, of Kunkletown, was operating a vehicle along Mountain View Road, in Polk Township, about 11:50 p.m. on Aug. 9 when the vehicle left the road, went up an embankment and overturned. Rine was not injured.

He was found to be under the influence and taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results, troopers said.

A driver fell asleep at the wheel and crashed in Carbon County. The accident was one of two reported by state police at Lehighton.

Troopers said Spencer L. Shigo, 17, of Palmerton, was driving a 2005 Acura MDX westbound on Fireline Road, in Lower Towamensing Township, near Quarry Road, about 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14, when he fell asleep, which caused him to lose control. The car crashed head-on into a tree in the area of 3809 Fireline Road.

State police at Lehighton reported on two burglaries and theft incidents probed by troopers.

A break-in occurred at a unoccupied residence at 845 SR115, in Ross Township, Monroe County. Troopers said all the copper piping was removed from the basement area. The incident was reported at 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 8. The victim was listed as Linda Breitlauch, 54, of Stroudsburg.
