PV JROTC boosters

The Panther Valley JROTC boosters will meet on Monday, Nov. 19 beginning at 6 p.m. in the JROTC room. All parents and guardians are encouraged to attend.

Golden Agers

During the Oct. 22 meeting of the Panther Valley Golden Agers an inspirational prayer, "Life Seasons," was read by Sue Dopira and the history of Halloween was read by Norma Lee Burke. Twelve members dressed up andparticipated in the Halloween parade. The Pumpkin Trio Norma Lee Burke, Grace Moser and Ruth Ann Feane offered their version of Halloween songs.

Summit Hill Boy Scout Troop 743 will be distributing Scouting for Food bags throughout Summit Hill on Thursday evening, Nov. 8

The troop will be collecting the filled bags on Saturday morning, Nov. 10, beginning at 9 a.m. All nonperishable food items are welcome.

Please have your bags on the porch, or steps, by 9 a.m. so that the Boy Scouts can collect them. The collected food will go to the Summit Hill Food Pantry.

First Congregational Church

Donations of non-perishable food items for Harvest Home will be accepted at First Congregational Church, Coaldale, beginning Sunday, Nov. 4. Contributions will be accepted until Nov. 18.

Morning Worship will be held Nov. 4 at 9 a.m. followed by Sunday School for all ages at 10 a.m.

Women's Class will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6. The theme will be "Acts of Kindness." A social hour will be held following the meeting and all area women are welcome to attend.

The Panther Valley Republican Club, which now represents Republicans from Lansford, Nesquehoning and Summit Hill, is holding a rally at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1 at the New Columbus Fire Company. Rep. Doyle Heffley, who is seeking re-election in the 122nd District, will be the main speaker.

St. John the Evangelist Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, is celebrating Reformation Sunday with a live, dramatic performance of highlights of events that changed the church and the world, beginning at 8:45 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28.

The Panther Valley Class of 1968 will meet to plan its 45-year reunion at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3 at the home of Louis Lisella, 1033 Mill Road, Lehighton.

The Panther Valley Women's Club will hold its monthly meeting at the Viennese Villa Restaurant on Monday, Oct. 22 at 6:30 p.m. A fun evening is planned and will include a costume party and bingo with prizes. Women 18 and older who have an interest in local civic activities and helping fellow Panther Valley citizens are encouraged to attend.

The office of Summit Hill Tax Collector Alice Kane will be closed until Oct. 26, when office hours will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Mail in payments will still be accepted during this time.
