Lansford

Diocesan board

The Rev. Kenneth A. Medve, pastor of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, has been appointed to the board of directors of the Diocese of Allentown's Catholic Charities Appeal.

The appointment was announced recently by the Most Rev. John O. Barres, D.D., Bishop of Allentown.

Medve will serve a three-year term that begins immediately and will run through June 13, 2013.

Christmas party

The St. Ann Society, Branch No. 140, will hold its annual Christmas party on Sunday, Dec. 5, at the Lantern, Nesquehoning. The dinner will be served at 1:30 p.m.

Summit Hill

To host bloodmobile

St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, will sponsor a bloodmobile visit by the Miller-Keystone Blood Center on Tuesday, Dec. 14, from 2 to 7 p.m., in the church hall.

PV Golden Agers

At the Nov. 8 meeting of the Panther Valley Golden Agers a prayer for Veterans was recited by Norma J. Burke. Vice President Shirley Pavlick had a reading "Do Something Today." Minnie Kennedy led the group in a selection of patriotic songs.

The guest therapist from Miners Memorial will visit the club in the spring to lead in arm chair exercises.

Travel reports were given by Frank Karnish and Irene Hudasky for up coming trips. Mimi Marrin gave her Sunshine report.

PV Senior Center events

On Nov. 22 the Panther Valley Senior Center will celebrate November birthdays and play bingo at 11 a.m. Nov. 23 is line dancing. Nov. 24 is black jack at 11 a.m. The center will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 25 because of Thanksgiving. Nov. 26 the center is also closed.

Nov. 29 is bingo at 11 a.m. Nov. 30 is line dancing.

Please call or sign in by 10 a.m. for the next day's meal.

Also, on Friday, Nov. 18 Blue Mountain Health System will host a Health Fair at the Lehighton Senior Center between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Panther Valley Public Library

The Panther Valley Public Library, 117 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, will hold a free story time for children ages 3-5 on Tuesday mornings from 10 to 11 a.m..

On Nov 16, the theme will be "I Love My Pets," on Nov. 23, the theme will be "I Love Thanksgiving;" and on Nov. 30, the theme will be "I Love My Family."

Each story time will involve a few books, some finger plays, a coloring page or simple craft and a snack.

The library will have a party the last day of story time.
