Palmerton band accepting members

The 2016-2017 Palmerton Area High School Blue Bomber Marching Band is now accepting registrations for membership.

Students entering grades 7-12 at the Palmerton Area Junior High School and the Senior High School are eligible to join.Musicians who play the flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone, tuba, and/or percussion and who have at least one year of musical experience may apply. Experience is not required of students interested in joining the Honor Guard or the Silks Squad.The band will perform at all varsity football games, pep rallies, and various spirit events throughout the year.They will also participate in Halloween, Veterans Day, and Memorial Day parades in the community.The band will also perform at the Palmerton Memorial Park swimming pool in August. One particular highlight of the year is a four-day trip in April to Williamsburg, Virginia. While on this trip, the band, along with the concert band and chorus, will perform at an adjudication in Williamsburg.The trip will also include a tour of educational and historical sites. There will also be a day at Busch Gardens.Summer rehearsals begin on Aug. 3 and continue through the month.Rehearsals after the start of the school year will go into November. They are scheduled after school on Wednesdays and Thursdays until 4:30 p.m.Anyone interested in joining the band should send an email to Tom Heinick, the director.
