Carbon County Art League hosts 34th annual art show

Breaking with its 33-year tradition of hosting its annual show in Jim Thorpe, the Carbon County Art League will hold this year's event from noon to 5 p.m., June 6-7, at the Palmerton Area Public Library, 402 Delaware Ave. in Palmerton.

The artists will be present at the closing reception from 3 to 5 p.m. June 7.The public is invited and there is no charge for the show or the reception.Over 30 artists will be featured, including those from Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe, Northampton and Schuylkill counties. Several are from Palmerton, including Mary Kocher, whose work is displayed in businesses throughout the area.The exhibit will include works in oil, acrylic, watercolor, photography, sculpture and mixed media as well as works on paper. For the majority of artists, the use of color is important and often explosive, which should make for an exciting and interesting exhibit.The mission of the Carbon County Art League is to support and nurture working visual artists, as well as promote the appreciation of these arts, art education, and the historical value of these arts to the community. Meetings are held at Penn Kidder Senior Center, Bear Creek Plaza, Route 903, Jim Thorpe, on the second Wednesday of every month at 6:30 p.m.Meetings include demonstrations by artists from around the greater Pocono area. All are welcome. Meetings and demonstrations are free and open to the public.
