Tamaqua Legion falls

The Tamaqua Legion suffered a setback, while Jim Thorpe's 9-10 LL All-Star team got off to a good start in the District 18 tournament.

Schuylkill-Berks LegionOley/Topton-TamaquaOley/Topton scored five runs in the fourth inning and then held off a late Tamaqua rally for a 8-7 victory.The Blue Sox scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth, but it wasn't enough.Pete Baddick had two singles, a double and scored three runs for Tamaqua. Cy Rother, Eddie Titus and Aaron Bates also added two hits.Williamson and Wentzel had two hits each for Oley/Topton.Christman was the winning pitcher and Baddick suffered the loss.Baddick was also named Schuylkill-Berks Legion Player of the Week.He had three home runs in three straight games, added three doubles, scored 10 runs and had nine RBIs.Baddick hit .423 (11-for-26) in six games and got the win in a 12-11 decision over Valley View.District 18 9-10 South TourneyTri-County-JT BlueGarrett Lienhard pitched four innings, striking out six, and allowed just one hit as the Jim Thorpe Blue defeated Tri-County 10-3.Leinhard also had a two-run double and scored twice. Ryan Bailor and Leah Snisky each had three singles. Rich Strack tripled with one RBI.
