Suspicious package detonated

Nesquehoning police are continuing to investigate an incident early Saturday morning that involved slashed tires and a box with the words "tick tock" that was placed on a porch.

Chief Sean Smith said officer Timothy Wuttke was called out to investigate a criminal mischief case. He spoke with the victim, Maureen Osinchak, of 8 Sixth Ave. in the Hauto Estates section of the borough.She showed him that three of the tires on her car had been cut, and the box, with the words "tick tock" written in big, bold letters, were left on the porch.Wuttke secured the scene and called the Allentown Bomb Squad, which detonated the package. There was no bomb inside, Smith said.Following further investigation and interviews, police obtained a search warrant for the suspect's home and seized several items. Smith would not release the suspect's name, saying police expect to arrest the person within the next few days.Also responding to the scene were the Carbon County Emergency Management Agency, Lansford Police, Hauto Fire Department and Lehighton paramedics.
