LV epilepsy conference planned

The Epilepsy Foundation of Eastern Pennsylvania will present the Establishing Hope: Current and Future Treatment Options 2014 Conference on Wednesday, March 26 at the Lehigh Valley Health Network, Kasych Family Pavilion, Cedar Crest Boulevard, Allentown.

Registration, exhibits and refreshments begin at 5:30 p.m. From 6 to 6:15 p.m. Ellen Baca, Lehigh Valley coordinator, and Allison McCartin, executive director, will offer a welcome. From 6:15 to 7 p.m. Dr. Soraya Jimenez will present information about the newest epilepsy treatments and medications, diet, Vagus Nerve Stimulator and alternate treatments.Dr. Jimenez is a neurologist at the Epilepsy Center, Lehigh Neurology, Lehigh Valley Health Network, Allentown.From 7 to 7:45 p.m., Dr. Christopher Skidmore, will discuss information about the future of epilepsy treatment; medications in development, advances in surgery and medication devices.Dr. Skidmore is a neurologist at the Epilepsy Center, and is an assistant professor of neurology. He is a director of the Neurology Residency Jefferson Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, Philadelphia.The goal of this free conference is to provide the latest and the future treatment options for those facing an epilepsy/seizure disorder diagnosis.Anyone living with epilepsy, their family and loved ones, medical and care professionals and school personnel are invited to attend.Registration for the conference may be completed online at
