CCTI students raise community awareness

Carbon Career & Technical Institute students Kaylee Murphy andJeanna Struble, inconjunction with the American Heart Association and HOSA, recently raised awareness at CCTI about the effects of heart disease on their community.

The students created a poster promoting the American Heart Association to bring awareness of heart disease to the school staff and students.Kaylee and Jeanna are currently raising money for the American Heart Association by selling hearts, bracelets and shirts. This fundraiser will run until January. They also screened students' and staff's BMI, pulse oxygen levels and offered EKGs.On Nov. 18, the CCTI students also went to the market in Jim Thorpe and raised money for the American Heart Association and took the blood pressure of the people of Jim Thorpe. Various activities are planned for the following months.
