Angel Tree receives donation

The Tamaqua Salvation Army Angel Tree Program received a huge boost from students, faculty and staff of the Tamaqua Area High School. A recent dress down day, organized by business education teacher Ann Lagowi, collected a total of $876 for the annual program, which provides Christmas presents for children in need. On hand for Thursday's check presentation were: Christopher Czapla, middle school principal; Stephen Toth, senior high principal; Major Sharon Whispell, Tamaqua Salvation Army; and Dina Depos, program coordinator. Principal Toth noted this was the largest amount of money donated during a dress day in the district, "Our students really came through this year. I'm proud of them for thinking of others and of Mrs. Lagowi for organizing the effort for the past several years." Almost 400 children will benefit from this year's Angel Tree Program.
