Blue Mountain Health System will host a session on stroke screening from 9:30 a.m. to noon on May 1 at the Next Step Acute Rehab Unit, Blue Mountain Health System, Gnaden Huetten Campus, 211 N. 12th St., Lehighton.

The main speaker will be Daniel Yeager, MD, Medical Director, Next Step Acute Rehab.The best treatment for stroke is prevention. The stroke screening includes a check for the presence of carotid bruits and evaluations for elevated blood pressure and irregular heart rates and rhythms. Participants will have the opportunity to review their personal stroke risk factors with healthcare professionals, followed by an individualized Action Plan to reduce the risk of stroke.
