Fifty-eight students at Lehighton Area High School, under the direction of Bryan Buffington, performed in the annual Concert Band Spring Concert Thursday.

Buffington had high praise for his students.Several students had the opportunity to shine in solo arrangements and one student chose a selection and served as a guest conductor.The concert opened with "Africa: Ceremony, Song and Ritual," with Laura Cressley performing a piccolo solo; Kaitin Smith, flute solo; Ellen Perkins, bass clarinet solo; Emily Shelly, alto saxophone solo; and Zachary Kobal, baritone soloThe second song, "In the Gentle Rain," featured soloists Paige Steigerwalt, flute; Jordan Burbage, clarinet; Rebekah Fritz, alto saxophone; and Laura Cressley, piano."By Loch and Mountain," featured soloists Laura Cressley, flute; and Zachary Kobal, baritone.In the selection, "Nevermore," Buffington, read a poem, "The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe. Soloists were Ellen Perkins, bass clarinet; Rebekah Fritz, alto saxophone; and Noah Williams, piano."Dreams," included soloists Laura Cressley, flute; Jordan Burbage, clarinet; Carter McCandless, trumpet; Dorothy Jo deForest, french horn; and Zachary Kobal was the conductor.Soloists Cassandra Snyder, clarinet; and Sara Wingert, alto saxophone, performed in "By the Rivers of Babylon."The Unknown Soldier," featured soloists Avery Frohnheiser, trumpet; and Adam Reichard, trombone.
