State police at Fern Ridge reported investigating a one vehicle crash in Carbon County over the weekend. It was one of two crashes investigated by troopers.

Troopers said Timothy H. O'Brien, 23, of Lehighton, was driving a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta northbound on SR903 in Penn Forest Township, about 7:11 p.m. on Sunday, March 25, when he struck a deer with his vehicle that had entered the road in front of him.

O'Brien and his passenger, Paul D. Weirich, 25, of Coaldale, were not injured. The vehicle had to be towed.

The second crash was reported at 3:27 p.m. on March 21 along SR115 at the intersection with Rocky Mountain Drive, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County.

Troopers said Gregory S. Deyong, 47, of Stroudsburg, was driving a 1995 Ford dump truck, hauling a trailer, northbound in the right lane with Gregory Rock, 53, of Blakeslee, operating a 2004 Chevrolet Venture, behind him, also in the right lane.

Deyong started to slow down to turn right and the left front of the Venture struck the right front of the truck.

Rock and his passenger, Jeanette Tanne, 53, of Bear Creek Township, both sustained minor injuries but did not require immediate medical attention. Deyong was not injured.

Damages were minor to the truck but the collision caused diesel fuel to leak onto the road.

Troopers cited Rock for following too closely.
