Drop down and give me twenty...

The Tamaqua Salvation Army has stepped up in its quest for a healthier Tamaqua by offering numerous health and fitness activities. One such activity is their free military exercise sessions. The sessions, instructed by volunteer Andrew Leibenguth, a Marine Corps veteran, provide just a little extra motivation compared to similar fitness regiments. The sessions are offered every Tuesday and Thursday in the gym of the Salvation Army starting at 11 a.m. and usually last about an hour. Participants are asked to see a physician before joining any exercise programs. Leibenguth added that these sessions are open to all ages and each exercise will be specific for each person's abilities. All participants are required to bring a towel and drink plenty of water the day before. Pre-registration is required. To sign-up or for more information, call Leibenguth at (570) 668-1234. Receiving commands from Leibenguth are, from left, Jesse Durning, Lansford; Frank Latham, Lansford; Melissa Latham, Lansford; and Charles Durning, New Philadelphia.
