Murphy Bennett and the Indiana University of Pennsylvania rugby team and saw their season come to an end with a 30-5 loss to the University of Pittsburgh in the elite Eight of the Mid-West Playoffs.

It was the second straight season the IUP Lady Crimson Hawks qualified for the post season.IUP qualified for the playoffs with a 42-0 victory over Clarion University. In the first round, it defeated Dennison University, the No. 1 team out of Ohio, 22-12, before ebing eliminated by Pitt.Bennett, a Tamaqua High School graduate, was a four-year member of the IUP rugby team. She was voted the scrum captain this past season.Academically, Bennett is Provost scholar studying Deaf Education. She is the daughters of Rick and Debby Bennett of Tamaqua.
